Michael Taromina
Esq.
Michael Taromina is one of the foremost experts in acupuncture and Oriental Medicine law and ethics. For more than a decade he has litigated, educated, advocated and authored for the advancement and protection of the acupuncture and oriental medicine (AOM) profession in the U.S. Michael has lectured before government officials, state regulators, practitioners, attorneys, vendors and students across the country and overseas. He is chair of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine’s Professional Ethics and Disciplinary Committee. In 2006 he co-drafted NCCAOM’s Code of Ethics and Grounds for Discipline and has personally overseen the adjudication of hundreds of acupuncture misconduct cases.
As a public member and legal counsel to the board of directors of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM), Michael has been instrumental in developing and overseeing the national legislative agenda for AAAOM. For his pro bono efforts, he received the 2008 AAAOM Award for Excellence. Michael serves as legal counsel to the New York State Acupuncture Coalition (NYSAC) and Acupuncture Society of New York (ASNY) where has served an integral role in the effort to amend the New York State Acupuncture statute. He is also legal advisor to the TCM World Foundation and Chinese Medical Science Foundation. Michael is a graduate of Fordham University and received his juris doctor from the City University of New York Law School (CUNY).
